Don't Die

She was lying on the bed breathing heavily. She had been like that even since they fought with pride the homunculus. He's shadows were going to attack Edwards back but she just jumped out of nowhere taking one of pride shadows close to her heart. He painfully remembered clearly, every detail; every feeling.

*Flashback*

"Ed-kun look out!!" The young girl jumped from the back. Edward wasn't paying attention to his back, he was just very alert for any attack since his auto mail was destroyed, but she rushed and pushed him, this way one of prides shadow stabbed her on her chest, very close to her heart. She coughed blood, everything froze for a moment, and seconds seem like eternity. How stupid of him for not had looked back, he had told Alphonse to try and block all lights so then pride wouldn't make any shadows. Unfortunately he was a little too late, because once pride stabbed her, which was when the lights disappeared. No one had paid attention but pride had made his way back to the shadows. The girl was coughing blood, lots of it. He wanted to catch her before she felt, but he had his auto mail broken. Edward just watched her as she fall by his side.

"Hinata!!" Edward kneed besides her expecting her to react, open her eyes, anything!! "Hinata answer me!!" She didn't answer. She was there, more paler than usual and with blood on her clothes and face. Her blushing face was slowly turning paler and paler. Alphonse once at the scene, he saw his brother expression and it hurt himself, not only for Edward but for Hinata as well. Lin Yao took a step close to Hinata body that was lying on the floor.

"We need to take her to the hospital" He took out his hand to touch Hinata and to carry her but Edward left hand stopped him.

"Don't touch her" The older Elric glare at the young prince. For a second Lin Yao just stared at him, it didn't intimidate him. For a while now Lin Yao had certain feelings for the young Hyuuga but he hadn't admitted it yet; Edward had suspected it and hadn't say a word but he was always careful to make sure that Lin Yao and Hinata never stood alone in any private area. Lin Yao ignored his glaring and just took Hinata in his arms.

"I Say don't touch her!!" The older Elric with his left hand pulled with all his strength Lin Yao right arm, this way making him drop Hinata over the floor.

"What the hell are you doing?!" Lin Yao said pissed. He had his hands covered of Hinata's blood, he didn't mind since it was her blood that he had. "Are you going to be this childish? If you keep going like this you'll let her die! You can't even carry her because your auto mail was completely destroyed!! What are you planning to do?? Let her bleed to dead just because you wanted to carry her?" The young prince just kneed once more to take Hinata on his arms. "I won't let you" Lin Yao use the same fight back Edward had done: he glared him. "I won't let her die" And with that he just rushed as fast as he could.

Edward stood there, regretting it. If only he had his auto mail he could had protected her. But now… Now he was useless, he couldn't use alchemy, and he couldn't save her life. Who know what could happen now. She could die, for all he knows.

"nii-san" Alphonse tried to say something, anything!! That could help his older brother. But he didn't say anything.

"We need to get our bodies back to normal" The older Elric were looking to the floor now.

He felt ashamed of himself. Why couldn't he help her just like Lin Yao has done?

Once they had come back to the hospital Edward made sure to call Winry so she could make him another auto mail. But unfortunately it wouldn't be done for a while now, so he'll need to stay like that until she could make it back to Central. So now he was stuck like that being useless.

"tsk" Edward hated it. He was waiting together with Alphonse on the hospital waiting room for some news of Hinata and he hated every minute of it, without knowing anything of Hinata. Lin Yao was there too, together with his servants waiting as well. He still had some blood on his clothes but he had removed the blood he had on his hands, arms and face, after some time Mustang and Riza arrived worried as well. Lin Yao and Edward were doing a glaring contest, but before they could decide who the winner was, the doctor came out of the operation room. The doctor had a sadly face, for a second Edward panicked but stood still. The doctor looked at all of the people there.

"Who's Hyuuga relative? Since she's a minor and all…." The doctor stared at the people. It was true, Hinata only had 16 years she was a year older than Edward.
"I am" Riza stepped in front of the doctor. "I'm in charge of her for some years now"

"I see" the doctor said. "Well we complete the operation successfully" With this every one let a sight of relieve. Really, no one would want a sweet girl such as Hinata to die so soon. Edward especially was extremely happy. "But" This was the hard part every time; the 'buts' they always ruined the good news. "Now it all depends of how she manages it, I'm very surprise how she could be still alive with all the blood she had lost. Not only that… Normal people can't exactly survive that kind of a blow" Well Hinata wasn't exactly 'normal'.

"But back to the point. I can only allow 1 person to come in to her room, at least for now. That's why I asked you ma'am"

"I understand" Riza replied to the doctor. She then turned and stared at Edward. "I think you should go inside. I mean she almost die protecting you right?" Riza told to the older Elric with a kind smile.

"What?!" Lin Yao tried to protest. "I brought her here… maybe I should go inside"

"No I think it's better to let Edward inside" Mustang tried to interfere as well. Riza then took a step closer to Edward and whispered to his ear.

"She once told me she appreciate you a lot. You're special to her." With that the young lady smiled to him, expecting him to just ignore everyone else and just go and see her, and just as she though, Edward walked to the doctor and they just nodded to each other. The doctor seemed to understand the situation. While Lin Yao still protested because he wanted to see Hinata as well.

*end of flashback*

When he entered the room, just immediately the doctor left. The smell of hospital just slapped his face; he couldn't smell Hinata's scent very much. Then slowly sitting on a chair by her side, Edward began praying to any god in heaven to save her, Even though he really didn't believed in any god. But if she did believed in one, he'll pray to that same god, just for her. With his left hand he took Hinata right hand, it felt cold. Her blushing face, wasn't there anymore, she looked paler almost like a ghost.

"Hinata" Edward whispered. Why you did something so reckless like that?  

The older Elric just stood there unable to think anything good. What if she didn't make it? What if she dies just as his mother did? She can't!  

"Don't die" He was holding back his tears. Edward wouldn't do something that unmanly, would he? Edward just squished her hand hoping to get some reaction out of her, but she did nothing. "Don't leave"

Beep… beep… beep.

The annoying sound was always there. She couldn't help but to slowly open her eyes. After some seconds she focused her sight: White. Where was she?
Hinata blinked a few times but when she tried to sit up, her whole body was in pain.

"o-ouch" She protested and since it. Since Hinata body's ached like hell she just stood lying on the bed. What had happened? She had to try and remember. Just when the young Hyuuga tried to process any information, the door suddenly opened revealing the Older Elric.

When Edward saw that Hinata had her eyes opened and that currently she was probably doing a staring contest with him he stopped walking. They blinked, blinked and blinked again.
"Hinata you're awake~!" Edward said completely happy. He then walked close to her bed. It seems all the prayers he had done had completely worked. Edward just sat by the chair that was by the side of the bed.  

"W-where am I?"

"Isn't obvious? You're in the hospital"

Hospital? Wait. Now she remembered. Hinata had jumped to protect Edward from pride shadow because he didn't had his auto mail. But…

"W-why you have you a-auto mail?"

"oh well I called Winry and after she beat the crap out of me she made me another auto mail" But doing a whole new auto mail take at least a few days right? How long had Hinata been asleep?

"h-how long-"

"5 days" Edward interrupted her before she could actually finish her question, 5 long days without seeing her beautiful lavender eyes.   

"I-I see" There was a heavy silent. Should she say something? "I-"

"Don't ever do that again" Edward said, now his bangs were covering his eyes, so the young Hyuuga couldn't read any expression.

"Ed-kun?"

"Don't ever put your life in danger"

"But you were-"

"It doesn't matter I don't want you to die… ever"

"But if I didn't do that you were-"

"You sure are stubborn"

Then Edward took Hinata hand and squished it softly and stared at Hinata's eyes, she then blushed. When the young boy noticed it he smiled, how much he missed her blushing face, he got up from the chair and softly kissed Hinata. This took her by surprise but she returned it back. When they finished he put his forehead alongside with her.

"Don't die" Edward said. "Don't ever leave me. Okay?"

The young Hyuuga smiled. This wasn't the first time she saw Edward sweet side but she didn't saw it often either and it made her happy that he use it with her, well the romantic way.

"Hai Edward-kun"

When Edward was about to taste Hinata's lips once again Winry with some flowers on her hands, Alphonse alongside with Lin Yao and his servants. They stood there staring at the couple.

"What the hell are you doing to Hinata??!!" Lin Yao glared to Edward.

"nii-san" if Alphonse had his human body he would been blushing and staring at his brother in a teasing way "I didn't expect you to take advantage from a injury person"

"it's not what it seems Al!!!!" Edward tried to excuse himself, ignoring Lin Yao protest.

"Well it can't be clearer to me" Winry commented.

They continued fighting over it, not to mention Edward and Lin Yao glaring contest. Hinata couldn't help but to giggle a little. Her chest still hurt but she was actually happy. If she had to protect Edward a hundred times more, she would happily do it.
